Sudani condemns Israeli use of Iraqi airspace in attacks on Iran

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has condemned the repeated use of Iraqi airspace by the Israeli regime to carry out military strikes against Iran, labeling the act a clear violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and a breach of international law.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has condemned the repeated use of Iraqi airspace by the Israeli regime to carry out military strikes against Iran, labeling the act a clear violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and a breach of international law.

In remarks on Monday, al-Sudani stated that Baghdad has formally lodged a complaint with the United Nations Security Council, stressing that the Israeli regime’s actions contravene the UN Charter and undermine regional stability.

According to Mehr, he reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to a balanced foreign policy, underscoring that national sovereignty is non-negotiable. “We have clearly communicated our position to our partners,” he added.

Addressing inflammatory rhetoric from U.S. and Israeli officials, al-Sudani warned that any attempt to destabilize the Islamic Republic of Iran could trigger serious consequences for the wider region. He cautioned that an expanded conflict would endanger Iraq’s security and disrupt oil exports and regional energy supplies.

The Prime Minister noted that Iraq’s top religious authority in Najaf had issued a statement highlighting the perils of further escalation. He added that the Iraqi government had succeeded in keeping the country out of direct involvement in the conflict.
